Leading business process outsourcing (BPO) company I-OneSource will invest $8 million to set up outsourcing centres in Northern Ireland.

This is expected to create around 1,000 jobs over the next two years. The initiative is supported by Invest Northern Ireland (INI) and is expected to spend over £28 million in wages and salaries by 2008, according to a company press release.

"We value the support and encouragement we have received from Invest Northern Ireland. The company sees tremendous opportunities in providing UK's leading companies with world-class business process management services and will be looking to grow our business rapidly in the coming years," said Ananda Mukerji, managing director & chief executive officer, I-OneSource.

I-OneSource's launch in Northern Ireland reflects a second wave of outsourcing; having recognized the expertise of the best Indian outsourcing companies, organizations are asking them to use that capability to manage outsourced services in the UK, the release added.
