The Uttarakhand government’s efforts to revive the Sahastrardhara IT Park suffered a setback after Ideb, a private company, decided to back out from the joint venture (JV) with the State Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (Sidcul).

Both Sidcul and Ideb had entered into a JV to construct the Doon cyber tower, a key component of the IT park, four years ago. After 2008-09 recession period, Ideb did not show much enthusiasm. Despite the special permission given by the government to raise the height of the cyber tower to 30 metres.

Under the new norms enacted by the government, the height of buildings in Dehra Dun was restricted to 21 metres two years ago. Due to this, the construction of the cyber tower became difficult, although the government gave its nod to raise the height to 30 meters as well as 10 per cent increase in the ground cover last year. An investment of Rs 171 crore has been proposed in the park.

S Ramaswamy, Managing Director, Sidcul told Business Standard that the matter would be discussed in the next Board meeting. “I will not comment before the Sidcul board meeting,” he said.
