Mobile tower firm Indus Towers, a joint venture of three service providers — Vodafone Essar, Bharti Group and Aditya Birla Telecom — has appointed B S Shantharaju as its chief executive officer (CEO).
Shantharaju will take over from Stefan Langkamp, who is moving back to parent company Vodafone to take up his next assignment, Indus Towers said in a statement.
Prior to this, Shantharaju worked with Delhi International Airports as the CEO, after the airport was privatised, and has also held the position of managing director at Gujarat Gas Company and finance director and country head of Bangladesh for SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals, it added.
One of the country's largest mobile tower companies, Indus Towers, Vodafone Essar and the Bharti Group own 42 per cent each in the joint venture, while Aditya Birla Telecom holds 16 per cent.
The company, which operates in 16 telecom circles across India, provides services to all telecom operators and other wireless service providers like broadcasters and broadband service providers and has a portfolio of one lakh towers.
