After its blueprint to develop two new towers in its IT park, Infocity Gandhinagar is in talks with the Government of Kenya to build a 10,000 acres IT park. |
Talking of Infocity's global plans, Anupam Saxena, Director Infocity, told Business Standard, "We are in talks with the Kenyan Government to establish an IT park. The acquisition of land, investment, logistics and other details are yet to be finalized,". The project would be co-ordinated with the Kenyan Government by partner agencies in Africa, said Saxena while adding that the company would also offer consulting services for such projects. |
Apart from the project in Kenya, the company is working with the Kerala Government to establish a 500 acres IT park in the state. The IT park would come up in Thiruvananthapuram and require an investment of Rs 100 crore by Infocity. |
The company had signed an MOU with the government two years back but it is only now that the collaboration is taking shape, said Saxena. At present, the Kerala Government is scouting for suitable land for the project. |
The company is also mulling to set up an SEZ in Haryana. This comes at the back of the encouragement given to IT developers in that state. Along with an IT park, the company also plans to set up a Bio-technology park in Haryana in the near future. |
The company's second tower in Gandhinagar would begin operations next month and currently has an 80 per cent occupancy rate. Unlike the first tower, the second tower has been given only to those companies which required a minimum of 15,000 square feet for its operations. |
The next tower in the project, Infocity III would begin operations next year followed by a fourth tower which has been given government clearance. |
Following the four towers, the company plans to put up exclusive towers for companies depending on their requirements. |
