Software services company Infotech Enterprises Limited has announced that its UK subsidiary " Infotech Enterprises Europe Ltd " has signed a Euro 12-million contract with GE Energy to provide geospatial data management services for Swisscom Fixnet, Switzerland.

Infotech was part of the consortium led by GE Energy which had won an approximately Euro 60-million contract, and has therefore been given a Euro 12-million deal as part of this, BVR Mohan Reddy, chairman and managing director of Infotech Enterprises, told Business Standard.

As part of the initiative, Infotech will create the spatial database for GE Energy to implement a network planning solution for Swisscom, enabling the customer to optimise its project-planning processes and accelerate the time to market new services.

In addition, Infotech will provide related software services such as process automation, query and generation tools. The project will be executed over three-and-a-half years and will involve up to 400 staff at Infotech's offshore production facilities as well as a dedicated local project team based in Bern.

"Infotech is now in the forefront of (geographic information systems) GIS suppliers to the telecom industry, having secured over $28 million in contracts in the last three years. So far, the typical deal size for such contracts has been around Euro 2 million for us," Reddy said.
