Hyderabad-based IT firm Infotech Enterprises today said that it has commenced operations from its SEZ facility in Visakhapatnam.
The development centre would deliver engineering services and solutions to customers in the offshore and marine segments, dealing with semi-submersible rigs, drill ships, bulk carriers, offshore supply vessels and dredgers, Infotech said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
This is the company's first SEZ facility, it added.
Infotech currently operates five other development centres in India -- two in Hyderabad and one each in Bangalore, Noida and Kakinada.
The development centre will house around 500 associates in the first phase.
"As part of our strategy to expand our operations in tier II cities, Vizag came as the obvious choice due to the availability of highly-skilled resources, infrastructure, and lower cost base compared to tier I cities," Infotech Enterprises CMD BVR Mohan Reddy said.
The development centre will add a new dimension to the company's India operations, providing high-value services to customers across the globe at competitive rates, he added.
