Infotech to set up Vizag centre

Infotech Enterprises Limited (IEL), a global engineering design services, geospatial information services and IT services provider, is setting up a development centre at Visakhapatnam.
 
"Currently we have four development centres in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Noida and Kakinada. Our fifth centre will be coming up at Visakhapatnam at an investment of about Rs 30 crore," BVR Mohan Reddy, chairman and managing director, Infotech, told mediapersons here.
 
The state government has allotted 5 acres of land to Infotech at Rushikonda. The company very shortly would start the construction works, and would commence operations by March 2008. In the first phase, it would employ 250 people.
 
"In the first year of our operation, the Vizag unit would generate Rs 45 crore business. We would provide marine design-related services to our US and Holland-based customers from the upcoming Vizag centre," he said.
 
The company would increase its headcount at the Hyderabad centre from 3,200 to 4,200 during the next fiscal year. According to Mohan Reddy, they would add another 40 people at the Kakinada centre.
 
The company expects 47 percent growth in business during the current year compared with the last fiscal.
 
"In 2005-06, our business turnover was $82 million, this year it will touch $120 millions. The next fiscal also, we expect to achieve 35-40 per cent growth comfortably with these expansion plans," Reddy said.
 
About 97 per cent of its total business is being generated from overseas companies. Reddy said the company would in future focus on increasing the domestic business too.
