Remember those days when photographers with Polaroid cameras would click instant pictures at the beach? Before the advent of digital cameras, Polaroid was probably the most fascinating device for visual reproduction.

Today, things have changed. Every third person owns a high-quality DSLR camera that allows you to click hundreds of pictures within minutes and there is no hassle of buying expensive films or taking care of them.

Why, you may ask has Fujifilm come out with the Instax Wide 300. Is it worth checking out? Let's find out:

The bulky camera will grab eyeballs wherever you take it. Some might find it a bit too huge, but the size and matte finish add to the retro looks. The device is powered by four AA batteries. The controls are comfortably placed and very easy to understand and use.

Setting focus on this device is quite tricky though. The lens can either be set to focus .3m-3m or 3m-infinity. There are good chances that you might waste some films taking out of focus shots. And that can hurt because each shot is worth about Rs 50.

A pack of 20 films is available for Rs 1,199 on Amazon.

Overall, the image quality is just about satisfactory. Colour reproduction and clarity are good, but not consistent.

Should you buy it?

If you are someone who likes the feeling of a picture popping out of the camera when you click, or if you are simply a Polaroid fan, at Rs 9,498 (on Amazon), this is not a bad buy. Rationally, it does not make much sense, but this one just has some sentimental value.
