Intel, one of the the world leaders in silicon innovation and developing processor technologies has announced that it would be focusing on tier-II and tier-III towns of Gujarat for technology adoption.
The company that has a market share of 90 per cent in desktops and personal computers segments is looking to cater to the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the state through trade fairs.
"Having widespread broadband connectivity can help end the digital divide in India and we are working with a number of industry and channel partners to facilitate the need for technology adoption. Our initiatives like 'computer mela' help make easy for people to own their first PC. We recognise Gujarat as a fast growing market and have organised around 10 such trade fairs from October last year. Just last month we held fairs at Bhavnagar and Surat and we will be holding one such fair in Jamnagar this month."said B Suryanarayanan, director, sales (west), Intel South Asia talking about the company's future plans.
Citing that computer and personal computers segment would be seeing a 20 per cent growth, Suryanarayanan added that Intel has just launched its new second generation Intel core processor (Core i3, i5,i7) family to cater to this demand.
Intel is also all set to direct its mobile computing efforts towards an entirely new category of laptops called 'Ultrabooks', that will bring all the benefits of tablets but with the performance and capabilities of today's laptops by the first half of 2012. The company also hopes to shift 40 percent of its users to the ultra book by the end of 2013.
