Apple announced it had sold over four million new iPhone 4S, just three days after its launch on 14 October. More than 25 million customers are already using iOS 5, within five days of its release, while more than 20 million customers have signed up for iCloud, a set of free cloud services that store content (over a wireless connection) and push across Apple devices (owned by the user).
Currently, iPhone 4S is available in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the UK, and would be available in 22 more countries from October 28 and more than 70 countries by the end of the year. According to reports, India is expected to see the launch of iPhone 4S this year.
"iPhone 4S is off to a great start, with more than four million sold in its first weekend-the most ever for a phone and more than double the sales of the iPhone 4 in its first three days," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice-president (worldwide product marketing).
