India Semiconductor Association (ISA), the premier national-level platform for the Indian semiconductor industry, has announced the 'ISA Technnovation Initiative'. |
It is an integrated effort to promote technology and innovation in the Indian semiconductor industry. A key building block of the new initiative will be its 'Patent-Fabric' which will focus on converting innovative ideas from Indian universities into patents. |

This will be achieved by educating universities on intellectual property and by providing subsidised legal assistance for the filing of patents in India and in the US. |

The initiative will also include awards for innovation in academic institutions and PhD felowships. It will take within its flod top university students, school children, academician and researchers. |

Commenting on the new initiative, Rajendra Khare, managing director, Broadcom India and Chairman, ISA, said: "The two-decade-old Indian semiconductor industry is morphing itself into playing a more significant global role and the time is absolutely ripe for a comprehensive initiative like this." |

"With this initiative we intend to institutionalise patent awareness amongst Indian universities thus fuelling technology innovations, generate world class talent by promoting higher education and research in the semiconductor technology and related areas, promote ventures through patented research and shape a technology vision for the semiconductor industry." |

Anand Anandkumar, MD, Magma Design Automation India and Vice-chairman, ISA, said: "We are partnering with leading law firms, technology venture funds and assessment agencies for detailed execution of the plan. " |
