Jalandhar institute to be centre for IT certification

Netpro Global Consortium, a US-based company, yesterday signed an agreement with DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jalandhar, authorising the latter to be a centre for prometric testing and training for the certification in the field of information technology.
 
"The Netpro certification program pioneers in telecommunication and focuses more on networking, 3G-CDMA, GSM and ISP technology" Jaganathan A, president of Netpro-Certification, India, told reporters here today.
 
"There are at least 8,000 vacancies in major telecom company Nokia alone and it prefers Netpro-certified students. Only 25 per cent of the market's demand is being met now," Jaganathan said claiming that a Netpro certified students could be easily absorbed by the telecom companies at a minimum package of Rs 3.5 lakh per annum.
 
He said at present the company had over 25 centres in west and south India. But in north India the DAVIET was a pioneer.
 
Netpro certification was launched last year in India to identify quality manpower for various member consortium industries focusing on systems, networking and telecom and this certification will provide skilled manpower to the companies.
 
C L Kochhar, director-cum-principal of DAVIET said for the benefit of the students of Punjab and Haryana, Netpro was conducting a two-day job fair at DAVIET campus from April 22 to April 23, in which as many as 12 IT companies, including Cognizant Technologies Ltd, Polaris Software Ltd, Hexaway, Verizone, Sabare India Ltd, were expected to come.
 
The job fair would create job opportunities to the final year students, freshers and people with experience and would be open for Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, MCA and M Sc (IT) students, Kochhar added.
 
Kochhar further revealed that the Mititua Laboratory, an extremely ultra modern Lab in order to impart value addition courses for Mechanical Engineering students and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Laboratory, equipped with state of the art infrastructure from Cisco Inc, have been introduced at the DAVIET.
