The Kerala IT department has floated request for proposals (RFP) for undertaking master planning for the second phase of Infopark Kochi.
The department recently announced the Phase II expansion on 160 acres at Kunnathunadu and Puthencuruz villages of Ernakulam district. The total built-up space is around 8 million sft.
The second phase will offer the first plug and play BPO facility in the state. The park will be operational by December 2011 and house domestic parks as well as special economic zones for IT/ITeS. The domestic park is aimed at creating cost-effective infrastructure for the BPO industry.
The state Budget has earmarked Rs 50 crore towards infrastructure development for Phase II, an Infopark press release said.
Infopark in the last two years has been growing fast and is already home to over 10,000 IT professionals working in companies like Wipro, TCS, US Technologies and IBS, the release added.
