L&T Info to invest Rs 20cr in new Chennai centre

Larsen & Toubro Infotech Limited, an information technology arm of L&T, is investing close to Rs 20 crore in the additional software centre it is setting up at Chennai.
 
Addressing the mediapersons after laying the foundation stone for the additional software development centre, A M Naik, chairman and managing director of Larsen & Toubro, said: "The software facility will have a total built-up area of 1.14 lakh sq ft with a seating capacity of 1,000 employees."
 
The additional software centre will be constructed by ECC and is scheduled to be ready by April 2005. The additional centre is designed as the 'Technology Centre II' with four floors and will be housed along the L&T's engineering construction and contracts division in Manapakkam.
 
The new e-Engineering centre of the company in Chennai will focus on the aerospace segment in India and the overseas markets in North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific. This centre, which will leverage L&T's strengths in the information technology, manufacturing, construction and e-Engineering, plans to employ around 800 personnel over the next five years.
