Google is working closely on the next iteration of Google Pixel smartphones and, according to the industry insiders, the devices will be manufactured by LG for Google.

Based on speculation, the upcoming smartphones from Google will take design cues from LG G6. The smartphone's larger version ‘Pixel XL’ is speculated to feature 18:9 ratio screen of AMOLED breed with QHD resolutions, which is dubbed as ‘TrueVision’ display by LG. The device screen will spread across the edges and therefore the size of  the bezels will be reduced sharply.

Another interesting bit of speculation making the rounds is about the ‘squeezable edges’, first unveiled by HTC in its flagship U11 smartphone. The frame around the device will embed a host of pressure-sensitive sensors that will recognise the squeeze to deliver app-specific functions.

Not much information has surfaced about the upcoming Google Pixel second-generation smartphones, but if the buzz of the market is to be believed, the two smartphones will do away with the visible antenna lines, by moving them on the top and bottom of the frame. Also, the fingerprint scanner is likely to move a little up on the back and will be placed right below the glass back that covers top side.

Key features
  • Improved design with slim bezels on top and bottom
  • Massive screen of QHD resolution
  • 18:9 displays aspect ratio
  • Large single rear camera (Optical zoom expected)
  • Reduced glass panel at the rear
  • Fingerprint reader placed in aluminium chassis
  • Antenna band to move on top and bottom

The original Pixel smartphones launched last year featured top-of-the-line specifications coupled with industry leading optics for unmatched photography and videos. The smartphones scored 89 of 100 in the DxO mark review, a leading benchmarking portal that reviews camera performance on several parameters. Also, Google introduced its personal assistant that came integrated with the Pixel devices.

The information regarding the launch and availability of next generation Pixel devices is still sparse. Given the speculation brewing around the smartphones, we can expect the official launch to take place soon. It is quite possible Google will schedule the launch to that of upcoming Apple iPhones, which are due to be unveiled in September or October this year.
