Pac-Man is perhaps one of the first "video games" many of us played - be it on a computer or an arcade machine. There have been many iterations over the years to this iconic game but the core remains the same. The latest version - Pac-Man 256 - runs on the same philosophy of eating pellets, dodging ghosts and keeps running around the maze.

Available for free on iOS and Android, the game has clocked more than 5 million downloads in the two weeks of its launch. It takes you on a nostalgic trip but with few modern twists and turns. Apart from collecting pellets, you can also pick up credits as you make your way through the maze. You can activate power-ups by spending credits at the start of each round. And if, rather when, you do get hit by a ghost, you can spend a credit to continue the game from the same point.

Like most games these days, Pac-Man 256 comes with IAP or in-app purchases. Personally, I've never been a fan of IAP but that is something which we have to live with. For Rs 490, you can get unlimited credits IAP - the more sensible option if you do want to spend money on the game. Credits start from Rs 60 on the Pac-Man 256.

The look of the game is quite retro and retains the classic Pac-Man design. Runner games can be quite addictive and when you throw a dash of nostalgia on them, they become quite irresistible. Pac-Man 256 lives up to its predecessors and is genuinely fun to play. So download it and relive the memories of a truly legendary game.
