Microland, an IT infrastructure management services company, has commissioned multi-network operations facilities and technology labs to tap the growing Remote Infrastructure Management Services (RIMS) segment.

Spread across 72,000 square feet, the facility, which has a seating capacity of 2,000, will house six network operation centres (NOC), six technology labs, one penetration testing centre and four data centres.

The six NOCs will allow for expansion and will be utilised to help transition remote operations of customers.

RIMS " a high potential segment that needs specialist skills -- is considered the next wave of growth for the Indian IT industry.

Nasscom estimates that IT services' exports from the remote infrastructure outsourcing model market in India will grow to $7 billion by 2010.

"We believe that remote infrastructure management is a strongly emerging IT services category that will accelerate as companies recognise the tremendous benefits and ROI that is attainable," said Microland chairman & managing director Pradeep Kar.

"Our Technology Infrastructure Lab's (which would be globally accessible over the internet) are the first of its kind in India involving simulating data centre, network, security technologies, multiple client environments in the areas of Microsoft.net platform, Virtualization Technologies and Mid-range Unix Systems," said Microland vice-president & CTO K S Ganesan.
