Microland, an IT infrastructure management company, has opened an offshore centre for Serco Solutions, a UK-based public support services firm. |
Microland, in a five year-deal, will manage Serco's IT infrastructure backbone, both onsite and from a 22,000 sq ft facility in Electronics City here. |
The facility comes with a state-of-the art network operations centre with high speed links to the UK. The centre today has some 100 staff, providing round-the-clock services to the British firm. |
Pradeep Kar, Microland's chairman and managing director, said, staff strength will go up to 250 network engineers in a year. |
Technologies supported by the centre include various Microsoft Technologies, UNIX, Novell, Citrix, Exchange and Domino Servers, Oracle and SQL Databases, and Network and Security Devices. |
Kar said, this trend of remote management of IT infrastructure will become mainstream by 2007. Microland has been providing such services for the last five years, he said. |
