Micromax Canvas Doodle 4: A few years too late

The 3,000-mAh battery is perfect for this huge phone

The first thing you notice about Micromax Canvas Doodle 4 is the mammoth screen. While sporting a 6-inch display, the phone is surprisingly light and sleek; this is easily the phone’s USP. A big screen had always been the USP fort the Doodle series.

The eight-megapixel (MP) front camera takes decent pictures. Coupled with its doodling feature, it provides nice caricatures and drawings to edit and personalise your photos. The 2MP front camera is a miss,  especially considering that 5MP front cameras with flash are doing the rounds.

The 3,000-mAh battery is perfect for this huge phone. It easily runs for 12-8 hours, despite heavy usage.

With 1GB of RAM, the Doodle 4 struggles to keep up with multimedia and games. The phone comes with a flip cover which strangely refuses to fit around the phone and involves quite a bit of a struggle. The sound quality is weak, even with earphones.

The phone comes loaded with apps such as Skitch, Evernote, Quikr, Cleanmaster and Snapdeal, among others. There is nothing striking about the Doodle 4 in comparison with the Doodle 3. Most features are basic and in need for an upgrade.

Priced at Rs 9,999, the Doodle 4 could have done well if launched 5 years back, when phones with such features within the 10k bracket were rare. However, now with smartphone brands like Karbonn, Xiaomi and Yu offering better speed and camera features, the Doodle 4 is a few years too late.
