Informational technology giant Microsoft, which has acquired Nokia's mobile unit, today launched high-end Lumia phones for corporate clients who could use it as a PC and said more such devices with different price range would hit Indian markets soon.
Its Lumia 950 is priced at Rs 43,699 and Lumia XL is available for Rs 46,399 per device and runs on Windows 10 platform. The company said pre-booking facility is available from today and the phones will be delivered from December 11 onwards.
"Lumia devices will be available from December onwards. We will also launch various other Microsoft mobile devices in coming months," said Raghuvesh Sarup, marketing director of Microsoft India on the sidelines of the device launching ceremony, without mentioning the price ranges at which the devices will be available in Indian markets.
Staring today, the customers can pre-book the devices at Microsoft Priority Resellers, Microsoft Store on Amazon.in and retail chains of Croma, Reliance and Sangeetha.
The new devices from Microsoft is targeted at business and corporate clients, who need high-end security and the feature of PC so that they might not need to carry their laptops or tablets with them.
Microsoft is offering a display dock free with pre-booked phones, which when connected to a supported device beams all the apps to a larger screen. Other than the pre-booked phones, the dock is available for Rs 5,999.
Lumia 950XL sports a bigger 5.7-inch display and 3,340mAh battery. Both the devices feature a 20MP PureView rear camera with triple LED flash and a front camera of 5MP with wide angle lens. Lumia 950XL will feature liquid cooling technology to dissipate the heat.
With better camera that has the ability to shoot in 4K mode and in slow motion and with facial recognition features, Microsoft seeks to lure customers who go for Apple phones and high-end Android phones.
Apart from the high-end phones, Microsoft will soon launch devices in lesser price range category, company officials added.
