Globally-renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has announced the launch of its Global Startup Labs in India for 2014.

The MIT GSL programme is an intensive seven-week accelerator programme focusing on mobile/web innovations. Students will learn entrepreneurship skills and software development skills, develop a commercially viable prototype product as a team, and gain valuable access to investors and the Indian entrepreneurship community.

This year, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has partnered Kyron, an accelerator and a venture capital firm, to offer a product development workshop. The technical and business curriculum will be taught by alumni and present student instructors from MIT's business and engineering schools.

The MIT GSL has said that applications are invited from teams as well as individuals. For individuals without teams, programme instructors will help from teams in the first week of the programme. Each team will be required to form an idea utilising mobile and web technologies, produce a business plan for this product, prototype the product, and then demo the product at the end of the programme.

Demo Day will be a chance for teams to network with potential investors to secure funding to take their ideas to the next level. Throughout the programme, teams will have incredible access to mentors from industry and the MIT GSL network.
