Motif plans for maiden float to fund expansion plan

Ahmedabad-based BPO company, Motif India, a child company of US-based Motif Inc, plan for a IPO to become a parent company. While, Motif Inc will be a marketing subsidiary of Motif India.
 
According to Kaushal Mehta, CEO and founder of the company, Motif Inc has 100 per cent holdings in Motif India.
 
"We will flip the structure and make the US company a marketing subsidiary," he said.
 
"We will enter capital market within a couple of years, not only for expansion but also to increase the value of the company," said Mehta.
 
"Thought the size of the IPO is not yet decided but we have started working on it. We have hired few chartered accountants to improve internal as well as external financial accounting systems which will help us before we enter the capital market," he added.
 
After IPO, the company will expand its client base.
 
"Currently we have four clients which will increase to 50. And our strength will rise from 400 to 2,000 including Ahmedabad, Philippines and New York," said Mehta.
 
Talking about Employee Stock Options Plan (ESOP), Mehta said, "Out of the total, 22.5 per cent of ownership is reserved for its employees, which is highest of any company worldwide."
 
He further said, "Every employee's level is entitle to stock options wherein the plan has a typical four year vesting period."
 
He added that the company also has in place a profit sharing plan for all its employees and has been sharing its profits since the last four years.
 
Motif's other stake holders are leading Wall Street and Silicon Valley investment firms, includes Rohit Desai, chairman of Desai Capital Management, P C Chatterjee, chairman of Chatterjee Group, Amit Shah, chairman of Anthileon Capital and Artiman Ventures, Dave Healy partner of Fenwick & West and founders.
 
During announcement of ESOP on Tuesday, chief minister Narendra Modi felicitated Motif being fifth BPO company of the country.
 
In the ceremony, Modi stated that the misconception of Gujarat being far behind in IT sector is no more.
 
He also said that IT sector in state will generate lot of employment.
