MTNL unveils new CDMA handset series

The Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) today launched exclusively in New Delhi a new handset series for its CDMA package called Garuda CDMA 2000 IX mobile.
 
MTNL's Executive Director, Delhi AK Arora said, "The capacity of network is four lakh lines and will have coverage throughout Delhi, including in Delhi Metro and will have 222 high capacity BTS, including 12 in Delhi Metro." The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 300 crore.
 
Arora also unveiled two models "" Hisense C-677 valued at Rs 1,799 and Rs 2,799 with seven days validity and free talk time of Rs 50. The same numbered models are also available with lifetime validity at Rs 2,249 and Rs 3,249.
 
The mobile sets will be provided by Huawei, a Chinese company, and the installation of the sim card will be done by HFCL for MTNL.
