Come August, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar of the Art of Living (AoL) fame may actually be able to send sermons to his disciples via a voice e-mail.

Hyderabad-based NowPos Online Services Private Limited is creating a voice-driven portal for the Art of Living Foundation wherein users will not only be able to use a voice e-mail service but will be able to listen to devotional songs via online radio as well.

Addressing the media, Ayyappa Nagubandi, leader of NowPos, said, "This voice-driven portal is likely to be launched by July or August this year. Most of these services will be subscription-based, and we are in talks with a few other non-governmental organisations to enable such portals for them."

NowPos has also tied up with Andhra Bank for launching voice-based ATMs. "These ATMs will enable a user to communicate with a bank via an ATM for lodging a complaint, making a request for a cheque book or even informing about a change in the postal address," Nagubandi said.

The bank is looking at installing 175 such ATMs in rural areas and is likely to launch these in the next three months. NowPos has also initiated discussions with two other banks for a similar initiative.

The voice technology products company had earlier launched a free voice e-mail service which today has users from over 108 countries.

The company has now been named by an international publication called Red Herring among the eight Indian startups to watch.

NowPos is primarily owned (55 per cent) by promoters, with the remaining stake being in the hands of external investors and employees.
