Oneplus, the smartphone manufacturer based in China, is set to unveil the successor to already famous Oneplus 3T. There is a buzz in tech community that the new model from Oneplus will not be called Oneplus 4 but Oneplus 5.
There are multiple theories doing the rounds as to why the new version will be called Oneplus 5 and not Oneplus 4. The latest theory suggests that numeric number ‘4’ is considered a bad omen in China and therefore the manufacturer will skip ‘4’ and make a move to number 5.
Coming to the speculated specifications, it is believed that the new Oneplus 5 would feature a 5.7-inch screen with AMOLED quad-HD resolution. Now, people aware of Oneplus devices will agree that it is high time for the manufacturer to use higher resolution screen. Oneplus has been using the same screen size of 5.5-inch with full-HD resolution in all their models. But with the advancement in the mobile virtual reality (VR), it becomes crucial to deploy quad-HD screens for optimal VR performance.
Also, the new display is expected to feature curved sides and the larger 5.7-inch screen will fit in the same compact as Oneplus 3 and 3T.
Oneplus goes with the moto ‘Never Settle’ and they have been offering exceptional products with great value for money. The Oneplus 5 is to follow the same path and is expected to feature Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 8 GB RAM, 64 GB – 256 GB internal storage option, and USB type-C connector with enhanced data transfer speeds.
Keeping the show going would be a new battery with higher capacity of 4,000 mAh or 4,100 mAh. On the camera front, the device is speculated to feature a 16 mega pixel (MP) rear camera but with new dual pixel technology and brighter aperture. Also, the rear camera might be assisted with retina flash, which is going to help in capturing low-light photography without losing the colours.
All these features would fit in a compact ceramic body covered with water proofing material that would make the new smartphone water and dust resistant. Also, the smartphone would come with a new dash charger, which is speculated to improve the device charging time to certain extent.
If Oneplus 5 speculations turn out to be true, it is going to be a real steal and will certainly give the other flagships a run for their money in 2017.
