Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus on October 30 launched the OnePlus 6T in India. This Amazon-exclusive smartphone will go on sale today (November 1) on the e-commerce platform. It will also be available for open sale at OnePlus online portal and select offline stores – OnePlus Stores, Croma and Reliance Digital – from November 3. The phone is priced at Rs 37,999, 41,999, and 45,999 for 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB models, respectively.

OnePlus 6T launch offers

Unlike the company's previous launches, the OnePlus 6T comes bundled with several launch offers. For those who pre-booked the smartphone on Amazon, the company is providing complementary OnePlus USB type-C Bullet earphones and Rs 500 instant cashback in the form of Amazon Pay balance. The phone comes bundled with Reliance Jio unlock-the-speed cashback offer, in which the Mukesh Ambani-owned telecom operator is offering up to 3TB of additional data and Rs 5,400 instant cashback in the form of 36 recharge vouchers of Rs 150 each. These could be redeemed on successive recharges of Rs 299 or more. The phone is also eligible for Rs 2,000 instant discount from ICICI Bank and Citibank.

OnePlus 6T first impressions

The difference between the OnePlus 6T and its predecessor OnePlus 6 is subtle but interesting. Except for the battery, the phone’s specifications remain largely the same. However, there is now a bigger screen with a tiny waterdrop notch, in-display fingerprint sensor and a host of software-based features that make the phone an interesting upgrade over the OnePlus 6.

The phone looks identical to the OnePlus 6 in terms of design. There are some incremental differences that come to notice only when both the phones are observed closely together. The new and bigger screen format gets your attention instantly as this is one of the major changes that the T-edition gets over the predecessor. The fingerprint recognition area that glows on the screen is another change that makes the phone look different.

Apart from these differences, most other things look familiar, including the new Android Pie-based OxygenOS operating system, which the company claims to have revamped with several new optimisations and features. However, the addition of a new gesture-based navigation, transition effects in the quick settings area and a dark theme that optimises all apps to open in the dark mode enhances the overall experience.
