Paradigm, a $100 million UK-based software solutions provider for the oil and gas industry, is planning to increase the investment in its dataprocessing center in Mumbai to $8 million from $4 million.

The company's center in Mumbai is equipped with 512 central processor units of Linux cluster with 256 nodes.

"We have identified the Indian market as key to our growth in the Asia-pacific region and would like to expand our service operations here. We might also consider setting up a software development center in the country at a later point," said Eldad Weiss, chief executive officer, Paradigm Group.

The Indian market contributes around 10 per cent to the UK company's overall revenues. "Our software solutions reduce the risk of exploring for oil and gas in wrong locations. Oil majors such as the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Reliance have recently forged long-term relationship with us after observing our expertise," Weiss said.

The company's solutions cover the entire gamut of data analysis and interpretation processes in the oil and gas exploration and production market.

For the first time in the industry, an entire spectrum of products and services, from seismic trace to drilling target, is available on the open Linux platform with our solutions.

This means that there is no need to switch solutions when moving from one platform to another, Andy Furniss, technical director (Asia-pacific) of Paradigm said.

The company has also developed a product called Visionarium that helps exploration organisations to go through concurrent presentation of all available information about the oil reservoirs.

Managers can review all the data in a collaborative environment, leading to reduced risk, enhanced productivity and a better return on their exploration expenditure, Furniss said.

The company bagged orders for four Visionariums from ONGC.
