In the wake of talent shortage in the industry, Mumbai-based IT services firm Patni Computers has formed an alliance with Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani to train Patni employees under a two-year masters level degree in Embedded Systems, beginning September 2007. Other companies in the industry who have tied up with high-level professional institutes to train employees for specific job profiles includes ICICI Bank. As part of such tie-ups companies hire young graduates and train them to suit the company's needs. The two-year masters level programme has been customised to Patni's needs. Under the agreement, the employees enrolled for the programme, would be trained by combined faculty of Patni and BITS. Patni also offers its employees an off-campus masters programme in software engineering from BITS Pilani with over 170 employes current enrolled in the programme, the company said in a press release. BITS Pilani is one of the select universities offering a masters level programme in Embedded Systems.
