Patni Computer Systems has announced plans to ramp up operations in Pune by setting up a new facility to accommodate 2,000 seats. The company has earmarked an investment of Rs 100 crore for the initiative.According to a release issued to the BSE today, Patni is also on the lookout for 15 acres of land to build a campus.Patni commenced its Pune operations in 1995, and has grown to more than 1,900 employees contributing 21% of total revenue in 2004. "Last year, the Pune operations added 600 employees over one-third of which came from Patni's Cymbal acquisition," the release added.Vijay Khare, senior vice-president of Patni, said: "We have continuously invested in physical infrastructure, domain capabilities and new service lines in Pune to ensure consistent growth. Our Pune operations have been key to the overall company growth, especially in the insurance vertical. With the Cymbal acquisition, we now have a dedicated ODC at Pune servicing one of the largest telecom companies in the US."
