Paying bills just got easier. Thanks to MobiKwik, a new mobile wallet app which helps you recharge your prepaid card, pay your electricity, landline, insurance and gas bills. You can also pay your postpaid phone bills, recharge your data card and DTH.

MobiKwik claims its newly launched app is the first mobile wallet app optimised for the iPad. This uncluttered, user-friendly wallet app looks good and performs well on all platforms including iOS, iPad, Windows, Android and Blackberry smart phones.

Operating MobiKwik is fairly simple. It requires you to add money to your wallet, with a minimum balance of Rs 500, following which you can select a utility of your choice from the menu. Enter the details and amount of recharge to be done, hit Pay and you will receive the confirmation message with the transaction ID within a few seconds.

Pros:
  • Allows really fast transaction compared to freecharge or paymybills
  • Supports every major credit/debit card and netbanking
  • Fast and neat interface
  • Lightweight on storage and memory
Cons:
  • Some services are limited to specific areas and companies
  • Not the fastest option when recharging for only one service

However, there is no option of paying directly with a credit/debit card. You will have to rely on your MobiKwik balance for payments, which is actually beneficial if you choose to pay multiple bills at one go. The entire process is much faster than paying through websites or other portals.

The one-click option is a helpful feature. It helps repeat all previous recharges from the history making your work simple without the need to enter same recharge details again and again.

Overall, MobiKwik is fast, secure and at only 204 KB, is incredibly small for all it provides. However, coverage of life insurance and gas bills is limited. Hopefully, with time, more areas and providers added to the list over time.
