To invest Rs 40 crore in the first phase.
Perot Systems Corporation, a US-based $2.8 billion information technology company, is setting up a new campus in Coimbatore. The company would invest $7-8 million (Rs 35-40 crore) in the first phase.
The 1,500-seat facility, coming up on 7.3 acres at Saravanampatti, is expected to commence operations in March 2010, said Vardhman Jain, managing director (insurance and BPO), Perot Systems.
The company at present employs around 500 people in Coimbatore.
Speaking about the Chennai centre, Jain said Perot had invested around $2.5 million (Rs 12 crore) in the facility, which is at DLF IT Special Economic Zone.
Spread over 23,617 sft, it can accommodate 350 professionals. Currently, around 3,000 people are working for Perot Systems in Chennai.
The Chennai facility will serve its clients in healthcare and life insurance sectors. Jain said Perot was looking at business opportunities in India and was in talks with 4-5 major healthcare providers to implement the hospital software apart from talking to life insurance companies.
It is hoping to conclude the first deal in the next 2-3 months, said Jain.
Healthcare accounts for nearly 50 per cent of Perot's global revenue.
Of the 23,000 employees across the globe, around 7,000 are employed in India at Chennai, Coimbatore, Bangalore and Noida. This year, the company plans to hire 700-800 professionals for its India centres.
