Karnataka has identified a 15-acre plot in North Bangalore to develop a nano-technology park. The park will come up close to University of Agriculture Sciences campus in Jakkur. |
The state intends to rope in private players to develop the park. The government has entrusted the task of evolving the modalities of the project to a committee headed by eminent scientist C N R Rao of the Jawarharlal Centre for Advanced Studies, Bangalore. |

"We expect a final note from the committee. Subsequently, we will take a decision on implementing the project," Karnataka's IT/BT Secretary M N Vidyashankar said. |

Karnataka has sought Rs 250 crore financial support from the Centre for the park. The nano technology park is expected to attract investments from leading companies. |

Karnataka will host its maiden global nano technology event in Bangalore on Dec 6-7. On Wednesday, Karnataka gave away the IT exports awards for 2006-07. While Infosys and Wipro won the award as the top two Indian companies, IBM India and Accenture won in the foreign equity company segment. |
