Polaris Retail Infotech Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Polaris Software, today said it has partnered with computer major IBM to launch software solutions package targeted at an estimated Rs 28,000 crore retail industry in the country. The solution package developed by PRIL is based on the software platform of IBM.

The package--Intellect Store--is meant for retailers having any number of stores and offering any kind of merchandise. The solution helps retailers track both the stock as well as customers at all their stores simultaneously.

"The software solution helps retailers in doing away with the need to install close circuit cameras and security people in thier stores," PRIL Director and CEO Mohit Oberoi told reporters here. However, Oberoi declined to disclose the targeted revenue from the new product.

"The organised retailing in India is still in the nascent stage and is growing fast. So the opportunity (for such software solution) is huge," IBM India Director-Solutions K S Raghunandan said.
