An uneasy calm prevailed at the Satyam Computer units located in the city, which figures prominently on the international IT industry map after the revelation of about Rs 7,800 crore fraud by its founder B Ramalinga Raju.

The defrauded company, dubbed as India's Enron, has four establishments in the city, including the latest one that has come up in the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park at Hinjwadi near here.

While the employees went to work as usual, the message from Satyam interim CEO Ram Mynampati, assuring the staff not to press the panic button, was doing the rounds in the premises, sources said.

According to company sources, the Satyam facility at the park was expected to hire around 5,000 IT professionals in the near future.

A dismal picture that has emerged since yesterday has put everything in a state of flux despite Mynampati's optimism to turn a new leaf to resurrect the company, they added.

A section of employees, who requested anonymity, said since the customer base of Satyam was sound, the CEO's grit could enable it to tide over the present mire and restore the Hyderabad-headquartered company's credibility.
