QualCore Logic Limited, an intellectual property (IP) and mixed-signal application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) realisation company, announced the expansion of its design team in India from the current strength of 200 to 300 during 2006.

As part of its expansion strategy, the company is increasing the size of its facility in the country and is gearing up to open a new 15,000-square feet space on its Hyderabad campus to support its global clients and facilitate new customer acquisitions in Asia-Pacific and Indian market.

QualCore started its operation in Hyderabad in 1995 with five employees and is stated to be one of the few companies having both digital and analog design capabilities with a wide range of silicon proven IP cores.

This expansion is designed to intensify Qualcore's support in the Asian region for its existing worldwide customer base and India's various business segments, including government, defence, space research organisations and multinational companies operating in India.

The company also plans to add embedded software services to its services portfolio in the current year in addition to design services, mixed-signal and analog IP and custom chip development.

"India is emerging as a silicon design destination. This announcement highlights our confidence in expanding R&D expertise in India and reinforces our leadership position in the digital and analog design area. Our investment in Hyderabad comes from a strong commitment to the Asian region," Mahendra Jain, president and chief executive officer of QualCore Logic, stated in a press release here on Monday.

According to company's managing director, M L N Acharyulu, in a short span of one year since the sales and marketing efforts were initiated, the company has bagged long-term contracts from leading multinational companies and government and defence research organisations in India to establish offshore development centres and to provide design services.
