Reliance Communications' (RCom) subsidiary, Reliance Globalcom, on Wednesday commercially upgraded capacity of its undersea cable to over 500 Gigabytes per second. Capacities of two cables, Flag Europe Asia (FEA) and FALCON Cable Systems, were upgraded on Wednesday.

The FEA Cable seamlessly integrates with FALCON Cable System, connecting 23 countries at 35 landing points. These cables connect high traffic routes of Europe, West Asia, Far East and Asia. The UK to West Asia route further connects India, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and China on the eastward side and to North Americas on the westward side.

The company hopes to serve voice, carrier and enterprise customers with this capacity, and will also aid its cloud computing, managed services and application services portfolio. “Reliance Globalcom witnessed a growth of around 60 per cent in the bandwidth requirement on the Europe, West Asia and Asia route. With the upgradation, we will be able to provide abundant high quality bandwidth,” said Punit Garg, chief executive officer of Reliance Globalcom. The company also talked about a potential upgradation to multi Terabit as well.

Reliance Globalcom global coverage today spans across 230 countries across the globe connecting six continents on its owned and hybrid network.
