Private telephony major Reliance Infocomm, an Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Enterprise (ADAE) group company, today slashed its international long distance (ILD) call rates by up to 50 per cent on calls to certain sectors. |
The reduction in call rates was effected on the company's calling cards, World Card, of two denominations, Rs 500 and Rs 1,000, for calls to the US, Canada, UK and Gulf. |

The charges of calls made using World Card to all numbers in the UK has been slashed to Rs 6.99 a minute for mobile calls, down from Rs 14 and Rs 7.20 for fixed lines. Calls to the Gulf would be metred at Rs 9.99 a minute, down from the earlier Rs 12.25 a minute, Reliance Infocomm said in a release here today. |

Mobile and landline calls to the US and Canada and South East Asia are now cheaper at Rs 4.99 a minute. This is perhaps the cheapest tariff to these countries available in the market today, the company claimed. |

Innovative domestic and overseas tariffs have been Reliance Infocomm's key growth driver. The combined subscriber base of Reliance Infocomm, the CDMA player, and Reliance Telecom, a GSM player, stood at around 15 million by the end of September 2005, the release said. |
