Facing a penalty of Rs 150 crore for allegedly rerouting international calls, Reliance Infocomm today denied all allegations of the government including that it "misrepresented facts" to the department of telecom (DoT) as well as to the regulator saying "this is a completely frivolous statement."In a 56-page reply to DoT's counter affidavit, Reliance Infocomm said: "It is denied that petitioners (Reliance) have deliberately tampered with the caller line indentification (CLI) or have deliberately avoided statutory payment of access deficit charge (ADC)."Denying allegations of indulging in "fraudulent and deceitful" actions, Reliance said that "we have neither violated any licence conditions nor masqueraded international calls as domestic calls."Earlier, Reliance counsel Harish Salve argued before TDSAT that the company has not violated the licence agreement in the alleged rerouting of international calls, saying the usage of home country direct (HCD) service by the company was fully recognised by the international telecom union (ITU).Even on the charges of tampering CLI, he said: "More than 40% of the ISD calls do not have proper CLI. In such calls, there is a directive from the government to operators to put their own switch numbers for identifying the details of such calls."
