China-based smart wearable and accessories maker Riversong recently launched the Wave O2 fitness band in India. Priced at Rs 1,999, this Amazon-exclusive fitness band is loaded with health and fitness tracking features. It also has the required hardware to monitor activity, heart rate, blood pressure, SPO2 (oxygen levels in the blood) and sleep.
When tracking activities, the band counts the number of steps, distance covered and calories burnt. It supports tracking five fitness activities -- walking, running, cycling, basketball and football. The band is IP67-certified, which makes it water and dust resistant – limited to rain and normal splashes while washing hands.
The band’s activity tracking, heart rate and sleep monitoring features work well. It syncs data when paired with a smartphone via RS Care app, which keeps the detailed record of activities, heart rate, sleep and everything else that the band supports.
Riversong Wave O2 USB
Unlike other bands in the same segment, the Wave O2 has a built-in USB charging connector, which makes it easy to charge without connecting any other peripheral. One can put it on charge by removing the upper strap and inserting the USB connector into the USB port of the laptop, desktop, charger or socket.
Although the device lacks a touchscreen, it has a capacitive touch key below the screen that works as a mode switch key to scroll between different modes. Coming to the battery life of the band, the Wave O2 comes with a 90 mAh Lithium Polymer (Li-Po) battery, which manages to keep it going for a week and some more.
Verdict
Priced at Rs 1,999, the Riversong Wave O2 is an entry-level smart wearable device. It has a good design and satisfactory health and fitness features. Though the band’s on-battery life is good, it is not on par with Xiaomi Mi Band 3, which works for more than 15 days on a single charge. The band also lacks touchscreen support, putting it a step behind the Mi Band 3 that also costs Rs 1,999.
