Rangu Salgame is to leave his position of president (India & SAARC) Cisco Systems, according to an official release issued today by Cisco.David Caspari, VP(service provider operations) of Cisco Asia Pacific, after a transition process, will become the acting president of Cisco India, while a search for a permanent replacement for Salgame is conducted. Caspari will continue to report to Owen Chan, president (Asia Pacific operations) of Cisco."Rangu Salgame has been instrumental in the significant growth and development of our business in India. Over the last three years, he has built a strong, customer-focused leadership team. I would like to thank Rangu for his substantial contributions - and wish him the best as he moves to the next phase of his career," Chan said.Under Salgame's leadership, Cisco has experienced unprecedented growth and gains in marketshare in India. The Indian networking market has grown rapidly in the recent years, fuelled by liberalisation, market reforms and telecommunications deregulation. In October 2005, the company announced it would invest over $1.1 billion in India over a three-year period in recognition of the country's rapid development both as a market and a center of research and development.
