Chennai-based Sanra Software Limited has launched its new anti-virus software 'Rudra' which makes use of the intent-based technology that protects a PC not only from known viruses but also from malware. |
Addressing a press conference here, Sanjay Bhardwaj, chief executive officer of the company, said that unlike the existing signature-based and heuristics-based technologies, 'Rudra' identifies and removes all viruses from PCs in their signature-unknown state itself. |
Elaborating on this, he further said that since the product is not a signature-based technology, the system does not require constant updates and there will be no slowdown even when the detection of malware is in progress. |
The product has been certified by the union ministry of Information Technology and is yet to be patented. Rudra will be commercially launched in January 2006. |
At present, the product is available for Windows clients and will be available for Linux and Mac by mid 2006, according to N Baskar, managing director. However, he declined to comment on the pricing of the product. |
The company will soon develop such solutions for hand-helds and smart devices such as personal digital assistants (PDA) and mobile phones by the middle of 2006. |
