Satyam Computer Services plans to boost its China headcount to 3000, where it plans to open its fourth development centre. The company is also eyeing acquisitions in Japan. The firm currently has around 350-400 on its payroll and it proposes to have a 3000-plus team of professionals operating from China end-2008, Virender Aggarwal, director & senior VP (Asia Pacific, Middle East, India & Africa) of the company, said.Satyam' fourth development centre in China will be a 1000-seat facility and four tier-II cities have been shortlisted for the purpose, he said."Wage inflation and attrition rates in China are similar to those in India. We are looking to expand in tier-II cities in China and want to develop China as an offshore base for our global customers as a part of our de-risking strategy for North American and European customers," Aggarwal said.Talking of Japan, he said: "We are not looking for capacity but for acquisitions in niche areas of telecom, banking and business analytics domain and to add Japanese language capabilities." Japan contributes only 1.5 % to the total revenues of the company. The company wants to "crack" the market there as large-scale outsourcing deals are expected to emerge.
