Sify to expand in West Asia

Chennai-based Internet service provider Sify Technologies Ltd has announced a tie up with Saudi Telecom (STC), a telecom services provider, to expand its network reach in West Asia, Africa and India.

The partnership would enable its customers and partners to leverage their investments in submarine and terrestrial telecom capacities and value-added information and communication technology services, according to a company statement.

Our partnership with the market leader will help establish a seamless ICT service for our enterprise customers and help our Indian, Asian and US Carrier partners connect to West Asian countries like Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Oman, Yemen, Iraq, Sudan and East African countries like Djibouti, Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, South Africa and Madagascar, said Raju Vegesna, chairman and managing director, Sify Technologies

Saad Demyati, vice president - wholesale business unit, STC, said the company has enhanced its international connectivity through multiple submarine cable systems and a terrestrial cable system via the recently-launched Jeddah-Amman-Damascus-Istanbul (JADI) link.

Earlier, Sify had announced that it is ready to activate its Europe India Gateway (EIG) submarine cable capacities. Its exclusive partnership with Gulf Bridge International (GBI) to land their submarine cable system in India, is scheduled to go live in the second half of 2011, added the company statement.
