Spice has stepped in Gujarat with its new range of GSM handsets. |
This $250 million company entered in the western region by launching its mobile phones in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. |

Talking to Business Standard, Kunal Ahooja, CEO of Spice, said, "We will focus more on tier II and tier III cities in the initial phase with its range of entry-level monochrome and colour handsets." |

According to Ahooja, after launching the similar models in other parts of the country, Spice have now decided to enter the western market through Gujarat with a clear focus on tier II and tier III cities. |

"We are strategically expanding our national sales and market coverage in India with a dedicated distribution network and premium offerings," he said. |

He further added that expanding its range of camera phones, Spice launched model 'S-8', a two mega-pixel slim bar camera phone after successfully launching 'S-800' "" company's first 1.3 mega pixel camera phone. |

"We have vibrant product portfolio range from entry-level monochrome handsets to monochrome FM, colour GPRS, MP3 and camera models where in price ranges between Rs 2,000 and Rs 10,000," said Ahooja. |

In due course, the company shall come up with full range of mobile phones offering differentiated features. |

"Within couple of months, mobile phones with bluetooth will hit Gujarat market with competitive prices," he said. |

Talking about the expansion plans in Gujarat, K Muzaffar, head-sales, said, "The company will cover state through a mode of two regional distributors and 20 micro distributors." |

He further said the company will have a strong network of 1,000 retailers in Gujarat in the launch phase. |

"Also to provide world-class support to our customers, we have already set up a customer service centre in Ahmedabad under the brand name, 'afterSpice', which will ensure superior quality service," Muzaffar said. |

He added that Spice would focus on building a strong supply and support infrastructure, leading to the expansion of business and eventually resulting in becoming the 'Mobile Champion' in India. |
