Tata Tele Services Limited, which launched its Internet-enabled CDMA mobile in association with Samsung across the country on Thursday, is also planning to create wireless Internet access hotspots in several cities including Hyderabad.

Speaking to the media in connection with the launch of Tata Indicom's new mobile product, Sanjeev Khera, chief operating officer, Tata Tele - Andhra Pradesh circle, said the company was already in talks with corporates and retail outlets in the city to create hotspots where any person with a laptop can access Internet without any physical connection for the same.

He said the company would be upgrading its network capabilities in Andhra in the next 45 days to provide uninterrupted connectivity to the customers across the state.

The company's expansion plans include increasing the network coverage to over 500 towns from the present 350 and providing wireless phone connectivity in 9,000 villages in the state. The telecom service provider's customer base touched 2 million towards the end of August 2007 in the state.

Among the other initiatives, the company is also planning to link government schools around the city with Internet to enable distance education to children studying in those schools, Khera said.
