Homegrown IT peripherals and consumer electronics brand Techcom India launched its range of affordable GSM mobile handsets today in the Uttar Pradesh market.
The company is aiming at a market share of three per cent to five per cent in the state in the next 12 months. The dual SIM mobile handsets carry price tags ranges from Rs 1,500 to Rs 4,000. “We are aiming to setup 80 distributorships and invest Rs 15 crore in brand building exercise in Uttar Pradesh,” Techcom Director Ajay Kumar Kedia told the media here. In phase I, the company would cover five major zones comprising Allahabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Gorakhpur and Varanasi. The rest of the zones would be covered in phase II.
The company will setup over 90 service centres in the next six months to cover all the 72 districts. “We are targeting the youth with our feature-rich handsets,” he added. The company claims to have established research and development centres in India, China and Dubai. It has close to 1,000 channel partners in the country.
