Teleradiology Solutions, a Bangalore-based provider of teleradiology services, has launched 'Rad Gurukul', a teleradiology training centre. Teleradiology is the electronic transmission of radiological patient images, such as X-rays, CTs and MRIs, from one location to another.

The training centre, located in Whitefield, Bangalore, has the facility to refine the skills of radiologists, technologists and IT personnel involved in healthcare IT. The centre has an auditorium with video conferencing facility which enables global interaction with trainers and trainees.

Speaking at the centre's inauguration, Arjun Kalyanpur, CEO, Teleradiology Solutions said, "The company recognises the importance of bridging distances to provide timely diagnosis. Radiology being a niche area, we are today facing an acute shortage of qualified employable talent in India, which includes healthcare personnel involved in teleradiology IT, technologists and doctors trained in telemedicine."

"We believe that this training centre can bridge the gap and help us reach our goal of establishing India as a hub for high quality teleradiology and telemedicine services." he added.

Earlier inaugurating the centre, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, CMD, Biocon said, "Globally, and in India in particular, the prevalence of diseases is rising alarmingly, due to the changes in lifestyle and diet."
