TPV Tech to launch local operations

TPV Technology Ltd (TPV), a Taiwan-based $5 billion business conglomerate, is foraying into Indian retail market by launching its brand of computer monitors, 'AOC'.
 
The company, which has 27 per cent share of global computer monitor market, has already appointed channel partners in the country.
 
"The home PC market has already crossed a 4.5 million mark, out of which 2.7 million is in the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) market. We have firmed up our India retail plans and aim at selling of around 1.5 million pieces during the first year of operations," TPV India Marketing Head Saurabh Grover told Business Standard.
 
AOC-India has already set up a service and support basis across country, with two sales and support offices and a warehouse. It has set up a three-tier distributor system which a central distributor, six regional distributors and the retailers all over the country.
 
The company intends to make its foray through a franchisee model and to begin with, it is setting up showrooms in five major cities. TPV has identified Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai for setting up its retail operations.
 
He, however, did not divulge the investments earmarked for the retail operations in the country.
 
At present, TPV has 10 models of computer monitors and it intends to launch an additional five models by mid of this financial year.
 
The company intends to sell cathode ray tube (CRT), liquid crystal display (LCD) and thin filament transmittor (TFT) monitors in India.
 
TPV's relation with India dates back to 2001, when it began supplying monitors original equipment manufacturers in the country. The company provides monitors to most of the computer manufacturers in India, he claimed.
