Technology Solution Providers (TSP), a US-based six-year-old firm offering solutions for traffic management, has set up shop in Bangalore.

The company, which specialises in transportation planning and management, intends to brings its US experience to the Indian scenario to help improve the quality of infrastructure development and transportation management.

TSP has around a dozen clients in the US, among which is the department of transportation, and over 20 staff.

The company intends to target transport operators, government agencies and corporate fleet operators to deploy its software for intelligent tracking of vehicles.

As a first step, it intends to start a dialogue with citizens in Bangalore and try to evolve a system in an attempt to bring sanity to the traffic chaos.

Said David A Faria, CEO, TSP, a Bangalorean settled in the US: "In a classical sense, there are three major factors contributing to the development of a world class city. Economic vitality, accessibility and a good quality of life environment. I feel Bangalore has just the economic vitality and lacks substantially in the other two. We must step back and take a hard look at long-term solutions. Economic growth in and by itself cannot sustain the likes of a world class city."

TSP will be offering a range of software products which will aid in trip planning, travel tracker, electronic fare payment, automatic passenger counters, customer assistance system besides tracking of vehicles.

"The current system of using global positioning system in public transport is the first step in this direction. We go a step forward and make it interactive and intelligent. For example, you can track the public transport on your own and monitor at what time a particular bus will come near to your office. Based on that data, you can time yourself to be at the nearest bus-stop, instead of waiting for long durations," Faria noted.
