Continuing its growth momentum, Tata Teleservices today said it has added over 40 lakh (4 million) new subscribers in September, becoming the top grosser in the industry in terms of new subscriber additions for the second consecutive month.

Tata Teleservices, the company which started the per second billing model early this year, added 40 lakh (4 million) new subscribers in September, while Bharti Airtel managed only 25 lakh (2.5 million) subscriber additions.

TTSL that offers both GSM and CDMA mobile services said in a statement, the company has emerged again as the number one telecom operator in the country in terms of new subscriber additions.

Last month, the operator added 3.4 million new subscribers which catapulted it to the top spot in terms of new subscriber additions in that month.

"While TTSL has shown a growth of over 17 per cent in terms of new wireless subscriber additions in September 2009, other telecom operators have shown flat or negative growth in new additions in the same period," the company claimed.

TTSL Managing Director Anil Sardana said, "It is extremely gratifying to emerge as the top grosser in the industry in terms of new subscriber additions in September-- this validates all the efforts that have been put into making our network and services the best in the industry."

So far, TTSL has launched its GSM services under the brand name TATA DOCOMO in 10 Circles and the remaining circles are set to go live by the end of the year.
